Most warranty issues with siding arise from the installation. As an example, it is estimated that over 90% of Fiber Cement siding ( which has a 50 year product warranty), is voided before the contractor ever finishes the job.

All siding manufacturers have installation guidelines set in place for the contractor to follow. If your contractor doesn't follow the guidelines, you really have no warranty.

I am still amazed at how often we will get a phone call to come look at a siding issue where failure has occured and the contractor who installed it is no longer in business.

When we give a customer a quote to do siding, it has the installation guidelines built into it.

One thing you can count on for sure is this; if for some reason you experience a siding related issue down the road, your manufacture warranty will still be valid!
